Please join us for the sixth lecture in the 2018 Grad Commons Speaker Series: Conversations on Contemporary Art, co-hosted by RISD Global Partners + Programs. In her lecture, Information Overload: Research Based Art and the Politics of Attention, renowned art historian and critic Claire Bishop examines research-based art and its problematic relationship with new regimes of knowledge and spectatorship since the internet.
Bishop is an art historian and critic based at CUNY Graduate Center. She is the author of Radical Museology, or What's Contemporary in Museums of Contemporary Art?, Artificial Hells: Participatory Art and the Politics of Spectatorship and Installation Art: A Critical History.
Conversations on Contemporary Art: The Gradual Contemporary is a collaboration among RISD’s Divisions of Liberal Arts, Graduate Studies and Fine Arts.
