Visiting artist | Paul Pfeiffer
The Photography department welcomes TC Colley Lecturer Paul Pfeiffer, a sculptor, photographer and video artist whose work explores the multiple interrelationships between mass cultural spectacles, sensory experience, local and global histories of racialization and empire. His works range widely in scale and form, from large immersive video installations and large-scale architectural sculptures to miniaturized video projections and live performances. Pfeiffer consistently explores the ritual aspects of secular culture, frequently through the lens of sport and often through the form of extant or appropriated images. His work attends to the hidden labor essential to the production of immersive spectacular experiences and to the effect of such immersion on subjectivity in the context of national, racial and ethnic difference.
