The Painting department welcomes artist Mark Thomas Gibson, who works in painting, print, ink and watercolor. Gibson’s work explores Black representation in the US using the vernacular of comics. He earned his BFA from Cooper Union and his MFA from Yale University School of Art and has shown his work in numerous group exhibitions as well as solo exhibitions Gauntlet (2018), Early Retirement (2017), Some Monsters Loom Large (2016), Alamo Revenant (2013) and Black and Blue (2013).
