The RISD Museum and Liberal Arts division welcome Cambodian-American artist Amy Lee Sanford, who will present a powerful, three-hour performance called Break Pot in conjunction with the ongoing RISD Museum exhibition Repair and Design Futures. The piece is based on a 28-day Sanford performance called Full Circle.
Sanford’s work references the deep personal significance of family separation, destruction and death associated with the Cambodian genocide in the 1970s, and the long, slow process of reconstruction in the decades that followed. This piece is a particularly powerful evocation of individual, social and cultural repair.
