RISD GLASS VISITING LECTURE SERIES SPRING 2017: Stefanie Pender
Stefanie Pender received her BS from Cornell University and her MFA from RISD. Her interdisciplinary background is conducive to experimental approaches in material and process and to the translation of scientific research into sculptural form. Operating within the plane where new technologies intersect with traditional systems of making, she is interested in the modulation between synthetic and natural processes. Pender’s current research inquiries are the manipulation of light in space, the emulation of geologic formations and digital fabrication techniques using glass. She is co-founder of the Glass Robotics Laboratory.
Partial funding for this lecture series by the Page Hazlegrove Fund and Koichi Hamada and Carolyn M. Beaudin in memory of Kotaro Hamada.
