Equitable Grading & Diverse Classrooms

Equitable grading involves providing support and opportunities to help students from all backgrounds meet course goals and demonstrate the scope of their learning. This research-based interactive workshop discusses ways to approach the evaluation of student learning through a framework that values high standards and individual development.

Instructor Bio

Dr. Jessica Metzler is the Senior Associate Director for the Sheridan Center for Teaching and Learning at Brown University where her work focuses on course design and inclusive pedagogy in the humanities and social sciences. She also collaborates with the RISD Museum to offer a workshop series on teaching with objects. Dr. Metzler received her Ph.D. and M.A. degrees in English Language and Literature from Cornell University and has taught courses on writing, literature, literary theory, and gender and sexuality studies.
