RISD LEADS - Diverse Voices on Leadership
Featuring - Melissa Camba Kelsay, Coordinator for Student Leadership in the Center for Student Leadership Development at the University of Rhode Island
For decades, scholars have studied what leadership is, but only recently have these older theories and models been analyzed through a critical race lens. This interactive session will infuse traditional and critical race scholarship about leadership and examine the findings from a 5-year study of more than 50 diverse students in one undergraduate leadership course. Quotations directly from study participants, definitions of leadership, and how to practice inclusive leadership will be discussed.
Fields and Fundamentals: Cultural, Inclusion/Diversity, Theory
