RISD Careers | Online Sales for Artists & Designers - Art of Business

In this new world of virtual everything, if you are an artist or maker who wants to make a living selling your work, you might have an easier time selling it online. We know the internet as a whole might be intimidating for many, but during this session, you will discover how having an online presence will make you and your work more accessible to buyers and admirers around the world. Learn which social media platforms might work best for you, what selling platforms will aid in monetizing your craft as well as other useful tips from jeweler Alicia Goodwin, who went from small outdoor fairs to creating a profitable business selling her work and being discovered by others, all online.

Alicia Goodwin is a jeweler and artist based out of Chicago, IL. A graduate of the metals program at SUNY’s Fashion Institute of Technology as well as a graduate of CUNY’s Hunter College, Goodwin creates sculptural metal work inspired by nature, mourning jewelry of the Victorian era and ceremonial jewelry of the Mesoamericas. She creates a majority of her work under her eponymous brand, Lingua Nigra, using the ancient techniques of wax carving, as well as textural techniques such as reticulation and acid etching. Her work can be found via her website as well as select retailers and museum shops around the world. https://linguanigra.com
