Faculty workshop | Multilingual Learners Online
Please join A&L's Maya Krinsky to discuss the support we can provide multilingual learners in online or hybrid classes. The workshop will begin with an overview of linguistic diversity and support at RISD. Participants reflect on the presence of multilingual student perspectives in our classes this year and learn teaching strategies to make assignments more accessible, increase participation and accelerate language acquisition where needed. This workshop is appropriate for anyone teaching at RISD, including those who have attended sessions on teaching multilingual learners in the past, as we continue to build collective expertise on language support in an ever-shifting context.
Maya Krinsky is Associate Director for Multilingual Learning at the Center for Arts & Language (A&L). She is certified in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL) by the International Language Institute of Massachusetts and is a RISD alum (MFA Photography 2014). Her years of experience teaching international students and immigrants inform her work in and between visual practice, language learning, and teacher training.
