Global summer studies | General infosession
RISD Global will present general information about each 2020 Global Summer Studies travel course, as well as information on the registration, payment and scholarship processes. These are three-week art and design travel courses led by RISD faculty and designed to broaden perspectives, de-center experiences and reframe assumptions by exploring the intersections of craft, art and design as they manifest around the world.
For summer 2020, RISD Global will offer seven creative and culturally immersive art and design courses—three at RISD's campus in Rome, as well as four in other diverse locations around Europe and Asia:
- Paris: Urban Design Renaissance Through Edible Landscapes
- Denmark: Design Seminar and Workshop
- Thailand: From Seed to Cloth
- Azores: Design with Nature
- RISD in Rome: Perspectives on Piranesi
- RISD in Rome: Form, Leather, Color and Craft
- RISD in Rome: Trash
All courses offer three RISD academic credits. Registration is first-come, first-serve and will open on January 13, 2020. Global Summer Studies are open to undergraduate and graduate students currently enrolled at RISD or in other art and design institutions worldwide, as well as recent graduates and professionals practicing in the field.
