Exhibition | Painting Department
The Painting department presents Between the Clock and the Bed, a group exhibition in the Memorial Hall Gallery curated by faculty members Jackie Gendel and Jennifer Packer. The artists included, regardless of aesthetics of description, take to task painting’s history of representation while incorporating individual notions of the everyday. Although the artists may diverge ideologically, within the works one may recognize a shared attention to solitude and the completive as a field of artistic sensibility. The show takes its name from a self portrait by Edvard Munch from 1943, a haunting and solemn image painted a year before the artist’s death. Artists included in the exhibition are: Mike Ambron, Kristopher Benedict, Angela Dufresne, Dana Frankfort, Aaron Gilbert, Heidi Hahn, Meena Hassan, Peter Labier and Austin Lee.
