Museum gallery talk | Elena Kalkova
The RISD Museum welcomes artist and RISD alumna Elena Kalkova MA 21 Global Arts and Cultures for Childhood Memories and Drawing, the first of three hands-on sessions examining family connections through art making. Kalkova’s recent series of works, Family Ties, explores the complexities of family relationships, especially between different generations of women of the same family. Through this personal lens, feminism in the Post-Soviet space is explored.
Each session begins with looking closely at art made by Kalkova and other artists. A variety of prompts inspire participants to think about their own family histories. Everyday materials are used to tell your own family stories and create portraits of the people in your life.
Join for one session or all three. Recommended for ages 12 and up. Free.
After registering, you will receive an email with a Zoom invite to the program and suggested material list.
