Architecture Gallery Lecture
DESIGN THEORIES, 1966
This lecture revisits, fifty years after their publication, Aldo Rossi's The Architecture of the City and Robert Venturi's Complexity and Contradiction in Architecture. It examines in particular the notion of design theory—a question Rossi formulated without addressing, and Venturi addressed without formulating—and traces its afterlife in contemporary architecture.
